1989 USA Fender HM Stratocaster


⭕ 1989 USA Fender HM Stratocaster here. Modified and Frankensteind! Rosewood fretboard on maple neck, straight and true, super close action, squared EVH style fret job with Gotoh tuners and locking nut for the Kahler Spyder tremolo (I dont have the bar, but it costs 30.00 online).

The pickups: In the bridge, A Motor City Pickups Blissterbucker 14.5k, 43g wind, Alnico II magnet. This is the Van Halen 1984 / Mid-Late 80s Hair Rock pickup and it sounds amazing. In the neck: The FrankenPickup!! Motor City rewound Carvin with Aero Instrument (USA made) long vintage Alnico II magnet. Its wound like an MCP Afwayu Neck pickup, so its hot, but liquidy and sparkles. I wouldnt remove this from the guitar because its kinda modified to stay in this guitar, and can still be height adjusted...like I said, its a Frankenstein.

The pickups are attached to a On/On/On style 3-way, with a single volume knob. The black tape in the middle covers the hole where a single coil can be placed as there is a small, mini-swimming pool rout where the two single coils used to be, but not between the bridge and middle s/c hole. The only rout was between the two single coils to create space for a humbucker. Honestly, I would leave it exactly as it is, though, because it is a killer sounding guitar.

This guitar may be relicd up, but its tuned up, setup and ready to play! I bought this guitar in 2006, and it was in like new condition, but it didnt sound worth a crud...especially the two single coils, which have no vintage value whatsoever, as they were made with cheap plastic bobbins and sounded cheap. I sent them to Larry at Aero Instrument to be rewound and he said Man, I would throw these things away and start over, and with that being said, The Bride of Frankenstein was born.
