1756 Lowe Roughneck, 60/40 4 Stroke Mercury Jet Drive
17 foot jet boat and galvanized trailer purchased new January 2014. 1756 Lowe Roughneck, modified V, jet enhanced (not a tunnel) hull with a 60/40 4 stroke Mercury jet drive. Motor has transferable extended warranty good to January 25 2019.
New motor was carefully broken-in at Claytor Lake following procedure in owners manual before running on the New River. Used only ethanol free gas but still included Stabill Marine 360. Greased lower unit regularly. Changed oil and filter at end of every season with synthetic Mercury 20w/50. Stored boat under cover with air circulation to prevent condensation.
This is a boat for many uses. It has a continuous wood deck, wood gunwale, front 50 x 20 x 1.5 wood deck, and push pole platform. Continuous under deck storage with 15 inch head space. Double floor keeps items free from bilge water. Center portion of deck lifts out in two half sections which can be locked down with a chain and lock to keep under deck items secure. Center deck support lifts out to provide in boat seating if desired. Can use the center deck sections as a pattern to customize boat further such as making a section to accommodate a live well or a generator. Wood gunwale permits flexible fastening of many items. Can erect a two man Timberline tent on deck with enough room to operate motor in back and room in front to fish. Boat is rigged so you can run it from the very front if desired. No holes were drilled in hull, only existing attachment points were used. The jet intake foot has some damage and was welded once (if you run shallow youre still going to hit stuff).
Fishing: Great for fishing because you can walk from front to back without stepping up and down. Very stable boat like fishing from a dock. Clamp or attach items such as rod holders, drift sock, bait buckets, lights etc to wood gunwale. Side battery holder keeps wires out of the way.
Duck hunting: Motor out with decoys and equipment under deck. Attach blind to wood gunwale.
Bowfishing: Easily move around boat at night to shoot from any spot. Put generator on push pole platform or under deck with ventilation. Easily attach lights anywhere.
Wildlife photography: Attach tripods to any spot on boat. Attach blind for concealment.
Boat camping: Go out for multiple days with gear and provisions stored under deck and camp on boat. Attach tent to side ropes to prevent blow off. Put cook stove on push pole platform, use gunwale fittings to hold solar lights to illuminate deck and boat without attracting insects.
Family day use: Motor out with water toys, cooler, chairs etc under deck. Plenty of room to lay out towels and jump off boat to swim.
Vacation trailer: You have a flat and dry tent spot any where you can park the trailer. Safely keep camping items under deck. Lash bikes or other large items to deck for transport.
